This past week was our Spring Break, but it didn't feel much like a break for me to say the least (it was better!). This Spring Break I was able to go on a mission trip to Forth Worth, Tx, with the Mission Center here at Wayland.
The basis of our mission trip was twofold in which we were leaders to a group of youth students, who also decided to serve on this mission trip for their Spring Break, and we also served refugees. We, alongside the youth students, were able to go around to several apartment complexes that primarily housed refugees from all over the world. The refugees that we were able to serve were primarily from South Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.
We were able to hold a Vacation Bible School at the apartments and invite all the children to come and have a good time with us all whether it was playing soccer, drawing with chalk on the sidewalk or having fun on the playground. It was a great time! There we were also able to share the Gospel with the children and had activities geared towards teaching them about the Bible.
Other activities we were able to be a part of during the week was going around different community centers in Forth Worth and helping them in whatever areas we could. Our groups helped decorate classrooms, cleaned gymnasiums, and helped with their food pantries. Overall it was an amazing week serving God and building relationships with the refugees, youth students, and with each other as college students.
