This past week I was able to go to a math conference called The Annual Meeting of the Texas Section of the MAA (Mathematical Association of America) at the University of North Texas in Denton, Tx. A group of us went from the School of Math and Sciences here at Wayland and we had a great time!
The night before the trip I stayed up to work on some homework since I would be gone for several days, and the effects of that sleep deprivation were felt the next day. As soon as I had a moment that we weren't all talking in the van, I fell asleep because of the big sleep pressure that I had. I slept for most of the trip and it felt great! I felt wide awake when we arrived at UNT and was not tired when we participated in a math competition(we didn't do good sadly, but we had some great laughs). That night when we arrived to our hotel, I fell asleep instantly even with what I had already slept so I must have had a substantial amount of sleep debt!
The second night I slept pretty good as well, and also slept on the way back to Plainview. Overall I caught up on a big amount of sleep, but rather than me continuing to get good sleep, I used that energy to stay up and do more homework so you could say I got back to where I started. It's better than being worse than when I started!
