Zzzleeping through Faith?

This past week in class we studied the area of sleep and faith. Personally this one was my favorite, but only by a little because all of the topics this semester have been great!

With this topic I learned so many new insights that I had no clue over. We read a few articles pertaining to this topic and something new that I learned, which fascinated and bewildered me, was that priests in the 1700s would rebuke sleep as they associated it with a weapon from the devil. In their mind the enemy was trying to bring them down through sleep as it was a time that they would not be devoting to God and thus it was seen as a sin.

This mindset is crazy to me especially because it is completely opposite now as we all try to get the most rest we can so that we can be effective in what we do, which our devotion to God falls into that category. We also dove into Scripture and read many passages that pertained to sleep in which the areas of dreams, rest, and a safe place were touched.

Studying this topic has also given me a few leaps into providing more evidence on the research topic that I want to write about. My claims are being supported more as I become more aware of these scholarly articles.

It was a fantastic topic to cover in this class and I am so happy that we did!
